Mango Tree Bistro, Greenbelt 5 Review

For one night only, a select group of fashion bloggers were fortunate enough to experience a taste of being a food blogger at Mango Tree Bistro, Greenbelt 5.

After a slew of cocktail party-ish events, this sit down dinner among friends was definitely a breath of much needed fresh air.
Mango Tree Bistro is located in Greenbelt 5, along the same strip as Mr. Jones and Lorenzo's. It's modern and stylish facade is hard to miss, very cosmopolitan. The interiors don't disappoint either.

While waiting for the other bloggers to arrive, we all had a fun time catching up. Because of work, I haven't been attending as many events as I used to. It's been quite awhile since I last saw my blog friends and this night was a perfect time to socialize and talk.

Browsing the menu through the bistro's iPad:

Aie, Krissy, Ana and Me

We were definitely pampered, complete with personalized place cards. VIP much? :P

Thai Iced Tea which tasted a lot like Milk Tea. Very Good!

Som Tum Thai - classic fresh spicy Thai green papaya with dried shrimps, peanuts, tomatoes and yum sauce.
One of my favorite dishes of the night. The vegetables were very fresh, like they were just picked from the garden a few hours before and the contrast of the salty dried shrimps against the sweet and tangy yum sauce was perfection!

Tom Yum Goong - spicy and sour soup with mushrooms, shrimps kaffir, lemongrass, galangal and fresh herbs. Also very good.

Thod Mun Goong - deep fried fresh shrimp cakes with sweet chili dip

Another excellent dish - Talay Prik Thai Dum - stir fried seafood with black pepper sauce. I love almost anything with yellow capsicums!

The set menu for the night originally had red beef curry on it but since Ana's a vegan and I don't eat beef, they were kind enough to switch it into a Red Chicken Curry with Eggplant for us.

Double Dessert! Khao Niew Mamuang - imported fragrant jasmine sticky ricce with coconut cream sauce and mushroom + cheesecake which you definitely have to order.

Chef cutting up the chicken for us while explaining how it's prepared:

Pad Thai Jay - stir fried rice noodles with bean sprouts , egg, tofu, peanuts, chives.

I am a big Pad Thai fan and I have tried my fair share of them all over Manila, Mango Tree Bistro's version is at the top of my list.It is definitely one of the best Pad Thai's I have ever tried in Manila. A must order!

Gai Ta Krai Yang - Mango Tree signature grilled lemongrass chicken with Northwestern Thai dipping sauce.
Also very good and a great alternative to Pandan Chicken. Kids will love this. Very tender and juicy with delicate flavors. Excellent with steaming hot Jasmine Rice.

There was so much food! And everything was so delicious, we couldn't stop eating despite being filled to the brim. That makes us very happy bloggers!

Vern, Pax and Aie:

Pax and Aie:

After a very heavy dinner, they treated us to drinks. I ordered a Bellini. Theirs is also very good, not too sweet with the right amount of liquor in it.

Ana and me enjoying our Bellinis.

Overall verdict: Mango Tree Bistro is one of the better Thai restaurants in Manila. A great place for an intimate dinner. You must try their Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Som Tum Thai, Talay Prik Thai Dum, and their cheesecake. And I almost forgot, they have excellent service. Your needs are heeded even before you realize it.

Thanks again for the invite, it was truly a night to remember.
